Origin of the Chrysanthemum

The chrysanthemum originates from China and Japan, where it has been adored for centuries. It arrived in Europe around 1700. Its name comes from Greek: 'chrys' means gold, and 'anthemon' means flower — referring to its original golden colour.

Types of Chrysanthemums

From santini to disbud

There are three main types:

Spray chrysanthemum: 4–12 cm blooms, multiple flowers per stem

Santini: small blooms (<4 cm), perfect for compact arrangements

Disbud (single bloom): one large flower per stem, up to 25 cm in diameter

Chrysanthemums are strong and reliable. Store them dry in a cooler (2–5°C) and place them in clean water as soon as possible. Remove leaves below the waterline and optionally use flower food. Enjoy them for 10–14 days!
