Berg Lisianthus

Brothers Wim and Hand van den Berg took over the nursery from their father, who in turn took it over from his father. So it’s a real family business. Furthermore, Tim van den Berg also joined the business at the start of 2021.

Quite a lot has changed over the years, from working by hand to the latest technologies. But what has never changed is the passion! And passion is what the business runs on.

The lisianthus is a fresh and delicate flower. Grown in many different varieties and colours, there is a lisianthus to suit every need. Berg Lisianthus offers a wide range every day consisting of 18 different colours and varieties, both single-flowered and double-flowered. Having so many varieties makes the work complex, but above all challenging! And it means they can always offer their customers an extensive choice.

Sustainability is one of the most important keystones at Berg Lisianthus, as they seek to make their contribution to a cleaner environment. Hence they separate their waste and re-use water, for example.

They also use a heat and power plant which ensures that gas is converted to electricity (for lighting), heat and CO2 as efficiently as possible. All this is used for the lisianthus, so that there are few emissions!

Scouting for pests is very important in virtually all crops. Scouting involves identifying and monitoring a potential pest. The lisianthus is a resilient plant and resistant to diseases. But it is still important to eliminate a pest in good time in this crop too. Scouting therefore forms part of the daily routine at Berg Lisianthus!

Berg Lisianthus stands for innovation. They were one of the first growers of lisianthus to supply lisianthus all year round, starting in 1994. They strive to market lisianthus successfully by constantly working on research and development.

Some 20 million stems are now grown every year on the 4.5 hectares.
