Bredefleur is a true family business. Father Piet Evers and his sons Peter, Thomas, and Levi are at the helm of this thriving lily nursery. Every day, they focus on growing the most beautiful and high-quality lilies. We love sourcing our lilies from Bredefleur, as it allows us to guarantee you only the best. In this blog, we share more about the family behind the flowers and their dedicated approach.

Family business

Since founding the nursery in 1997, Piet Evers has gained years of experience of growing lilies. His sons Peter, Thomas and Levi learnt the tricks of the trade from their father, and have the same enthusiastic entrepreneurial spirit. The brothers literally grew up amongst the lilies. Peter is responsible for the organisation, innovation, production, machines and personnel. Thomas focuses on cultivation and buying the bulbs, and runs the nursery in Luttelgeest together with his brother Peter. Levi deals with Bredefleur’s marketing and sales, and manages the nursery in Moerkapelle with his father. The arrival of this new generation means that Bredefleur has grown into an innovative lily nursery that is ready for a blooming future.

Quality and consistency

Bredefleur grows 20 million lilies every year! These lilies from Bredefleur are known for their quality, consistency and exclusivity. They select the best bulbs in order to be able to grow the most stunning lilies. The stems are strong, and always have multiple buds on each stem. They use the latest technology to keep the lilies in optimum condition for the customers throughout the cultivation process through to packing and shipping. Regardless of when it is bought, every lily offers the same quality, colour and strength. And all the lily varieties are available 52 weeks year.

Bespoke work and craftsmanship

Bredefleur holds the exclusive rights to be the sole grower of a substantial number of lily varieties. They work all year round on developing new varieties and updating familiar lily varieties. They offer bespoke work and craftsmanship. In order to achieve this, all Bredefleur employees commit 100% every day as one big family.

Sustainability first!

Bredefleur tries to use sustainable alternatives wherever possible during the cultivation and production of lilies. For example, they use insects in the greenhouse. And not just any insects - these are beneficial insects that neutralise the effect of other more harmful pests. So they don’t use pesticides. With 3000 solar panels, Bredefleur is also self-sufficient in power. And they use geothermal heat. They feed this energy back to neighbouring households.
